Near the end of Plug in Baby, they released balloons that looked like eyeballs that had confetti in them. It was really cool and I captured a small video of it.

But I haven’t been the biggest lover of their music over their last 3 studio albums. But their new album, Backspacer, is their best album since 1998′s ‘Yield’. Their are some great melodies, well written lyrics and it all is great from beginning to end. My favorite is ‘Unthought Known’. I do miss early ’90′s Pearl Jam (heavy rocking, angry Eddie, etc.). But I’m glad to see they not only survived the years, but are still making great music and still relevant (selling albums/successful tours) today. Not many have long careers like them!

I’ve become a huge fan of MUSE over the past 2 years! They are a band that blends a lot of styles of music and really knows how to rock. I have yet had the fortune to see them live…hopefully this week! But I’ve heard live songs, seen a live concert on DVD and read they are amazing in concert.

The recently came out with a new album and 11 songs is not enough for MUSE fans! I heard two songs prior to the release and was very excited. The album, as well as each song, is a journey to me. They mix classical with rock, change tempo’s and rythem’s often and really now how to right a hard riff. ‘Unnatural Selection’ is a great song that rocks and I hope to see that on Guitar Hero/Rock Band in the future. Another fave of mine, ‘United States of Eurasia’, really shows how diverse musically MUSE is. Truely a must by for MUSE fans or anyone that likes rock music with added bonuses!

It is that time of year again…when a new Guitar Hero game comes out. This time it was Guitar Hero 5. They were (or still are) running a special that when you buy this game, you get Guitar Hero Van Halen for free! Cannot beat that offer!

When I first started playing this, in expert of course, I was not too impressed. Songs were all over the place! I guess after loving Guitar Hero Metallica that this game did not stand a chance. I was only partly right! After spending some more time with it, alone and with a friend, it is pretty good. The fact you can just jump on in and play any song without the need to unlock them is great when playing with other people. And there are some real fun songs on here to play (Dire Straights, Wolf Mother, MUSE, etc.). The inclusion of tough songs with a keyboard is OK for my and pushing it for difficutly. These songs with a keyboard or piano are tough, but it is “guitar hero”!

If your a fan of this franchise or type of game, still is fun to rock on! I’ll keep trying to finish the last 10-15% on expert and also eagerly await my copy of Guitar Hero Van Halen!

You may have caught on a Monday in the past that Muse is one of my favorite bands lately. They are actually the band I would like to see the most! They will be in NJ next month with U2. I’m sure I am the only one who doesn’t care as much about U2. Wish I could buy just an opening act ticket.

Anyway, I heard a new song about 2 weeks ago and last week they officially released their first single. Head on over toMuse’s website to hear Uprising or United States of Eurasia. I like both but love United States of Eurasia. The buildup and ending with classical music inspiration (Chopin) is brilliant. Slight Queen influence, a middle eastern flair and great message/lyrics make it my choice out of the two new songs. I cannot wait until September for the new album to hit iTunes.

Pietasters, Reel Big Fish, Less than Jake, etc. More on the punk/hardcore punk side was the Suicide Machines. Their music was fast, furious and fun for me. After their first 3 records, with their first ‘Destruction by Definition’ being my favorite, it is sad to see where they have gone.

I googled them today and the current lineup of the band and their website, show no acknowledgement or history of the old band (90′s punk). They have gone through some band changes and even now are no longer together. Oh well!

I’ve played almost every ‘guitar’ music game that has come out for playstation 2 (with the exeption of AC/DC, Rock Band 2 or some of the track packs for rock band). And I have always favored Guitar Hero over Rock Band.

With Guitar Hero Metallica, I think this is the best music game made for Playstation 2, as well as the best Guitar Hero to date! I’m not the biggest Metallica fan either. I know most of their popular songs and haven’t even heard 1/2 of the songs on this game by Metallica and the other bands. But this game makes you feel like a true guitar god!

Metallica’s music, for me, fits perfectly for this game. The songs really get you into it (as a dork, I’ve been sweating playing these really long songs), are just some great hard rocks songs and are incredibly hard. I started on expert and about 60% through, I hit a brick wall! I’ve made it up to 70-75%, but will probably be stuck for awhile. I just can’t keep up with some of the early Metallica guitar solos!

If you played any of the guitar hero’s and liked them and you like rock/metal music, go get this one! It is a must. Now, what could top this? I’m not sure, maybe Led Zepplin!

Ever since I started playing ice hockey again last year, as well as going to the gym more often this year, I like music that gets my adreniline going. For me, this is hard rock/metal.

One band that I’ve been bringing back from the 90′s is downset. I can’t remember exactly who I first saw them with. Since holding us over with the Aerosmith version of Guitar Hero this summer, I couldn’t wait to ‘rock on’ with more tracks. This game doesn’t disappoint!

There are a ton of songs and alot of great ones to play to. Three of my favorite songs to play are Bullet for My Valentine’s ‘Scream Aim Fire’, Rise Against’s ‘Re-Education through Labor’ and No Doubts ‘Spiderwebs’. Yes, No Doubt. Just a fun song to jump up and down to. Currently, I’m stuck on 4 songs to finish everything in expert. And I don’t see me doing it anytime soon as ‘Hot for Teacher’ and ‘B.Y.O.B’ are just incredibly hard!

I look forward to getting Rock Band 2 and the AC/DC Rock Band Game this month!
